Mike and Debby Stephens APAHA Breeder of the year Nominee

How would you define the type of person that should be named "Breeder of the Year"?

The Breeder of the Year is a person with the forethought to embark on a breeding program designed to produce beautiful horses that are temperamentally receptive to training, and athletically capable. Arabian horses with type in the tradition of beauty and function for many generations to come, at the same time making a positive contribution to the Arabian breed as a whole.

In what ways has your breeding program contributed to the betterment of the Arabian Breed?

For the past 20 years, Resting S Ranch has been proud to be involved with the Arabian Horse. Our goal is to produce beautiful horses with Arabian type, athleticism, trainability and, maybe the most important, one that is a joy to own, whether in the show ring or out. After a few years of research and setting our goals, we produced S JUSTADREAM, the winningest Arabian mare in the history of the breed. Our program centers around JUSTAFIRE, a proven producer of both breeding stock (halter horses) and performance horses. We are dedicated to the Arabian breed and its promotion.

Some of his National Champion get are: S JUSTADREAM, S JUST DREAM ON, reigning two-year-old National Champion MARY'S GIFT, CENTRAL PARK WEST, JUSTA WILDCHILD, A JOHN TWITTY, IBJUSTA LILWICKED, ROHARA JUSTAMERICAN, AND ROHARA AMERICAN LEGEND. For 2004, Resting S Ranch has five National Championships and 10 Top Tens

In 2004, Justafire DGL was on the leading sire list in four different categories as well as #1 sire of Half-Arabians at the 2004 Scottsdale Horse Show with 7 Champion, and 3 Res. Champions in halter and performance. Thus far in 2004, Justafire has been a leading sire at Region 7 and Region 12 with over a dozen regional winners in Open and AOTR competition.
