About Us

Resting S Ranch is owned and operated by Michael and Debby Stephens. In 1991 Michael discovered a 100-acre property slated for development at the foot of Oak Mountain in the small township of Indian Springs, Alabama.

Its rich history was almost as irresistible as the sylvan pastureland, divided by a free-flowing creek. Native Americans once camped at the springs; the land has hosted a dairy, and later a riding stable. A deserted, century-old barn was making its last stand. Michael bought the acreage, clearly with something other than boardrooms and stock options in mind. He named it "Resting S Ranch," the "S" standing for Stephens, for the tranquil haven he now sought. And so… Resting S Ranch was born.

The Staff

David Waggoner, Farm Manager for Horses   David joined Resting S in 2005, following an extensive career in both Arabians and American Saddlebreds. He has worked with some of the foremost show and breeding establishments in both breeds, including such names as Battaglia Farms and Stonecroft Farms.
